Lil Waynethinks he knows a thing or two (or seven!) about sports. And he attempted to show it off on Saturday when he launched his new Internet-based sports program,Weezy&8217;s Sports Corner, which is shot and produced by his longtime videographerDerick G. The point of the program: To talk sports, sports, and more sports! In the premiere episode, he talked about a ton of different topics, includingChris Pauland his trade to theLos Angeles Clippers,college football, and his newfound love forskateboarding. If nothing else, it&8217;s an ambitious effort by Wayne, who has doneplentyover the course of the last few years to show off his love for sports.
What, though, is the ultimate goal forWeezy&8217;s Sports Corner? If you ask me, this looks like something that ESPN could possibly run to give their ratings a boost during the early afternoon hours. If you&8217;ve ever seen shows likeDan Le Batard is Highly Questionableon ESPN2, then you already know that this Wayne program isn&8217;t any worse than that. Is it as entertaining as shows likeAround The HornandPardon The Interruption? Not by a long shot. But it&8217;s something that would get kids to tune into ESPN when they get home from school, that&8217;s for surlil waynee.
I&8217;ll be interested to see how long Wayne can keep this up. If he&8217;s hellbent on continuing to film these, I think he could do something pretty interesting with it. I assume he&8217;d have absolutely no problem getting athletes to come on to chat with him. I&8217;m also pretty sure that guys likeSkip BaylessofESPN First Takeme will support him in his venture. But Wayne is interested in so many other things that he may soon lose interest inWeezy&8217;s Sports Cornerif it doesn&8217;t get the kind of reaction he&8217;s hoping for. Let&8217;s hope not. Because if he can produce clips like this for six months or so, ESPN may give him a serious look. If they haven&8217;t already&8230;
Check out one of the clips from Wayne&8217;s debut ofWeezy&8217;s Sports Corner. And thencheck out Derick G&8217;s site to see the rest. What do you think? Are you in Weezy&8217;s corner?
