Drake is from Toronto and Lil Wayne is from New Orleans, but the duos new music video pays homage to another region: the West Coast. The music video for The Motto, features Drake, Wayne and Young Money rapper Tyga. Rest in peaceMac Dre, Ima do it for the Bay, Drake spits as the likes of E-40 and Mistah FAB look on in the background.
The song, which takes aesthetic cues from the Bay Areas hyphy movement, is an iTunes bonus cut from Drakes latest albumTake Care, which was recentlycertified platinumand featured on RapFixs5 Best Hip-Hop Albumsof the year list. Previous music videos from the album include Marvins Room and Headlines, which were both released before the disc hit stores in November.
The Motto originally turned some heads with lyricsdirected at Uncle Luke. The former 2 Live Crew member issued a warning for Wayne and his Cash Money Brothers to give back to the Miami community they enjoy, or have their Miami cards revoked. In return, Drake quipped, Tell Uncle Luke Im out in Miami lil waynetoo/Clubbin hard, f---in women, there aint much to do/Wrist bling, got a condo up in Biscayneaint shchange. The rebuttals didnt continue afterward, though.
Drake told MTV News that he also plans to shoot a music video for theRihanna-featured title track. Its a project where I think visuals are called for, for a lot of those records, Drake said of his sophomore album. So were working on definitely the Take Care video, which were trying to get shot soon and a couple of other ones, too, off the album.
